Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about assessments, lessons, membership, billing and using Ivy Maths.
Getting Started
Find out what Ivy Maths is, which curriculum it is built on, what year groups it covers and what is included for free.
Ivy Maths is a maths-only assessment platform for children in Years 1 to 11. It tests your student against the UK Mathematics 2026 curriculum and tells you, topic by topic, what they have mastered, where the gaps are, and whether they are ready to stretch ahead of their year group. We focus exclusively on maths so we can go deeper than a general assessment platform.
Every assessment is mapped directly to the UK Mathematics 2026 curriculum, derived from the UK Department for Education National Curriculum statutory guidance. Our question banks, topic maps, and progression ladders are built from this guidance and reviewed regularly for accuracy across Year 1 to Year 11.
Years 1 to 11, end to end. The same platform follows your student from Key Stage 1 right through to iGCSE preparation in Year 11. If your student is working ahead, the Advanced Pathway continues into higher year groups automatically.
Daily Practice, the Quick Lessons, the maths dictionary, the curriculum browser and its checklists, the worksheet generator and the Maths Challenge are all free, with or without an account. Assessments, reports, workbooks and homework checks are paid, though a free account comes with 1 complimentary homework check.
For every year group from Year 1 to Year 11 we publish a free downloadable PDF checklist of the maths curriculum. It lists every topic your student is expected to cover that year, mapped to the UK Mathematics 2026 curriculum. Useful as a parent reference, a tutor handover, or a starting point before you take an assessment.
Every maths topic from Year 1 to Year 11, laid out year by year, so you can see exactly what a child is expected to cover and when. Each entry links to the lesson and the practice for that skill, and the checklists are printable if you would rather track it on paper.
The platform has been developed entirely in-house by a team of engineers, curriculum designers, and experienced UK educators. Every part of the system, from question design to adaptive logic, is built to professional educational standards. Ivy Maths is a UK-registered company.
Assessments
Everything you need to know about Module Assessments, Full Curriculum Assessments, the Gap Assessment and your results.
A Module Assessment is a short, focused assessment on a single area of maths, such as Fractions, Algebra, Geometry, Decimals, Percentages, Trigonometry, Ratio & Proportion, Measurement, Statistics, Number, or Calculation. It takes around ten minutes and is designed to be used often, weekly revision, mastery checks, or after finishing a topic.
The Full Curriculum Assessment is a complete picture of your student’s mathematical understanding across the whole UK Mathematics 2026 curriculum. It is adaptive across topics and year levels and is the right test once a term, at the start of a school year, or before a major change. It returns a curriculum-wide gap map and a full written report.
Pick a Module Assessment if you want a focused check on a single topic, or after finishing a unit. Pick the Ivy Membership if you plan to test regularly across multiple topics. Pick the Full Curriculum Assessment when you need a complete, end-to-end picture, typically at the start of a term, a new school year, or a transition.
It is the assessment that finds the level your child is genuinely working at, rather than testing the year group on their school register. It moves up a year each time they answer correctly and down a year each time they do not, so it settles on their real level and names the gaps underneath it.
A Module Assessment covers one topic and answers a specific worry quickly. The Gap Assessment works across the curriculum and keeps climbing or dropping until it finds where your child actually sits, which is what you want before making any kind of plan.
It stops climbing when a year is no longer secure and stops descending once it finds a year that is. That is what produces a level rather than a score: the point where confident work ends and guessing begins.
A report, straight away. It names the level your child is working at, the skills that are secure, the gaps worth filling, any areas they are working above their year in, and what to do next. It is a plan rather than a mark.
No, and it matters more here than anywhere else. The assessment is only useful if it shows what your child can do unaided. Help produces a level that is too high, and every recommendation built on it will then be pitched wrong.
A Module Assessment takes around ten minutes. The Full Curriculum Assessment takes approximately thirty minutes. The free curriculum checklist is a printable PDF you can work through at your own pace.
Every assessment is adaptive. Questions are drawn from across year levels, and the platform raises or lowers difficulty in real time based on how your student answers. It will not waste time on material that is too easy, and it will not push past a level that is genuinely too hard.
Yes. Many families retake assessments through the year to confirm that gaps have been addressed and to track progress. Each sitting is independent and generates a fresh report. With the Ivy Membership, retakes are unlimited.
Flag it. There is a flag control on every question, and flagging skips it without counting against your child. Flagged questions come straight to us and are reviewed.
You receive a gap map showing topic coverage at a glance, a per-topic proficiency score, a written report in plain language, and a recommended next-step pathway based on your student’s results.
Every report ends with a clear recommendation falling into one of three pathways. A Catch-Up Plan works through specific missed topics in the right order. A Daily Practice Plan builds confidence on what your student is learning now with short, targeted sessions. The Advanced Programme stretches children who have mastered their year group and are ready for more.
If your student consistently answers correctly at their registered year level, the assessment continues automatically into higher year groups. The Advanced Pathway identifies children working ahead of their year and maps exactly how far ahead they are, topic by topic.
Learning & Practice
Learn about Daily Practice, Quick Lessons, Skill Practice, homework, worksheets and more.
Ten questions a day, pitched at your student’s year group. Pick a year, a topic and a sub-topic, choose how many questions you want, and work through them on the page. It is free and needs no account, though signing in means each round is saved to your student’s profile so the results feed their progress.
A Quick Lesson is a single topic taught on one page: what it means, the key rules, a worked example, an animated example that acts out the same numbers step by step, and the key words with their meanings. They are free, and they are where the learning plan sends you when an assessment finds a gap.
Skill Practice drills one specific skill rather than a whole topic, so a child can work at exactly the thing they got wrong. Each skill sits in the curriculum browser under its year group and links straight to its own practice.
No. Nothing expires and nothing is lost by missing a day. Ten questions is deliberately short so it can fit into an ordinary evening, and families use it as often as suits them.
Photograph a finished piece of maths homework and get question-by-question feedback on it before it is handed in. You see which answers are right, where a method went wrong, and how to correct it, rather than only the final answer.
No. The feedback works through the method a question at a time and explains what went wrong and why, which is what makes it useful for the next piece of homework rather than only this one.
The free worksheet generator makes a printable sheet on a topic and year of your choosing, as many times as you like, at no cost. Workbooks are longer printable packs built around a year, topic or skill, and they come with fully worked answers rather than an answer line.
No. The free worksheet generator works signed out. An account is only needed if you want your downloads and results kept, which is what the free account is for.
A plain English dictionary of the mathematical words a child meets between Year 1 and Year 11, with an example alongside each meaning. It is free and needs no account, and it is there for the moment a word in a question is the thing standing in the way rather than the maths.
Choose a school year, spin the wheel for a topic and answer ten questions. Score eighty per cent or more and your student earns a certificate. It is free, and it is meant as a bit of fun rather than an assessment.
Membership & Billing
Membership, the free account, prices, extra children, payments, refunds and cancelling.
For one fixed monthly price your student gets unlimited Module Assessments across every topic and every year level. It is built for families who want to test often, track progress regularly, and build a steady picture of mastery across the year. Cancel anytime.
Unlimited Module Assessments and Full Curriculum Assessments with their reports, progress tracking, the gap assessment, a personalised learning plan, the dashboard and analytics, and 4 homework checks a month (they reset each month and don’t roll over). Workbooks stay priced per item. It is £15.99 a month for one student.
The free tools all work signed out, and what an account adds is that things are kept: results, downloads, progress over time and your student’s profile. It costs nothing.
A Module Assessment is £5.99 and a Full Curriculum Assessment is £17.99, both one-off. Ivy Membership is £15.99 a month, includes one child (additional children are £8 a month each), and covers unlimited Daily Practice, unlimited Module Assessments, Full Curriculum Assessments, 4 homework checks a month, personalised learning plans and progress tracking. There are no hidden fees.
A single check is £0.99. It is included at no extra cost with the Ivy Membership.
Workbooks are £2.99 each. They are priced per item and are not part of the Ivy Membership, so a member pays for a workbook in the same way as anyone else.
Yes. A Module Assessment is £5.99, a Full Curriculum Assessment is £17.99, and a homework check is £0.99, all with no subscription and no ongoing commitment.
Add the student from your dashboard and the plan grows to cover them at £8 a month each. Everything they do sits under your account alongside your other children.
Membership covers one student, and each additional student is £8 a month. Every student gets their own space, their own progress and their own reports under the one parent account.
By card at checkout. Membership is charged monthly, and a Pay As You Go assessment is charged once, at the point you buy it.
Membership renews monthly until you cancel. Pay As You Go does not renew at all: you are charged for the assessment you bought and nothing after it.
Because assessments are delivered digitally and the report is generated the moment the assessment finishes, they cannot be refunded once accessed. The terms set this out in full.
Yes. The Ivy Membership can be cancelled at any time from your account. You keep access until the end of the current billing period and you are not charged again.
Reports you have already generated stay yours, and anything you have downloaded is yours to keep. Cancelling stops future billing rather than removing what you have already paid for.
Parents & Reports
The Parent Dashboard, more than one child, progress and sharing reports.
Each child on your account, what they have worked on, how their results have moved over time, and the gaps still open against their year group. It is the same picture the reports give, kept up to date as they work rather than fixed at the moment of a test.
Yes. Each child has their own profile, their own year group and their own progress, and you switch between them from the dashboard. The membership covers one student, with each additional student £8 a month.
Yes. Children have their own view of what they have completed and what they are working towards, written for them rather than for you.
Tutors & Home Education
Using Ivy Maths with tutoring clients, for home education and alongside another curriculum.
Yes, and many tutors do. A Module Assessment at the start of a placement gives you a baseline in ten minutes rather than three or four sessions, and the report is something a parent can read for themselves.
Yes. Ivy Maths was built with home-educating families in mind. It gives you a clear, curriculum-aligned picture of where your student sits, removes the guesswork, and makes it straightforward to plan what to cover next.
Start with the curriculum browser to see the year group laid out, then a Full Curriculum Assessment to find where your student actually sits against it. The learning plan that comes back is the order to work in, and the Quick Lessons and practice are what you work through.
Yes. Ivy Maths maps to the UK curriculum, so it will tell you how what your student knows lines up against it. Families abroad and families moving between systems use it for exactly that.
Privacy & Data
What we hold about your child, who controls the account, and the full terms.
What the platform needs in order to work: their name or nickname, their year group, and the answers and results from the work they do. That is what produces the reports and the progress you see.
The parent or guardian. Children work within a profile that sits under your account, and the account itself, including closing it, stays with you.
The Terms and Conditions page covers acceptance, accounts and registration, our services, intellectual property, the terms of sale, refunds and subscriptions in full.
