Ollie had gaps in his maths that he did not feel comfortable admitting out loud. In class that is easy to hide, and the longer it is hidden the wider it gets.

His Ivy Assessment report showed exactly where those gaps were, by curriculum line, and recommended a learning programme to close them.

Working through it, Ollie filled the gaps, found his confidence, and reached the learning objectives expected for his year.

1. Why Naming the Gap Mattered

A gap that has a name can be worked on. "I am bad at maths" cannot. The report replaced the first with a list: the lines that were secure, the lines that were shaky, and the lines that were missing, with a lesson for each.

Once the list was short enough to see the end of, the confidence followed the work.
