How to Revise for a Maths Test
Maths revision goes wrong when it turns into reading. You cannot revise a method by looking at it, only by using it.
In short
Start from the topic list
Ask what is actually on the test and write those topics down. Revising everything means revising nothing properly.
Do questions, do not read notes
Reading a worked example feels like revision and is not. Cover it and do it yourself.
Work with the book shut
Try the question without your notes. What you cannot do is exactly what needs revising.
Give the hard topics the most time
The topics you enjoy are usually the ones you already know.
Save past questions for later
Learn the method first. Past questions tell you whether it stuck, they do not teach it.
Stop while you can still think
A tired hour adds less than a fresh twenty minutes.
